3 BUDGET FRIENDLY DIY

Small touches of decoration to your house can make a big difference overall. And they are more precious when you give a personal touch to it. In this blog, I have come up with 3 budget-friendly DIY that can match up to your aesthetic.
1. Terracotta Vase

You can make a thrifted vase or a glass bottle look like a terracotta vase. For this, you need two ingredients - baking soda or baking powder and acrylic paint. Take the vase you want to transform, prime the vase with white paint or any light coloured paint of your choice. Then mix an equal amount of baking soda and paint of your choice. In here I used brown, you can use any colour like white, black, ochre, beige, etc.
If needed mix a little bit of water. Make sure the amount of water is less or else the consistency of the mixture becomes runny and it gets difficult to apply it on the vase. After preparing the mixture, start applying it over the vase. The mixture will dry up soon so try applying it as fast as possible. After painting the vase, let it dry for a few minutes and voila your DIY terracotta vase is ready. You can also add flowers in the vase to make it look prettier.
2. Vision Board

A vision board is a collection of pictures, quotes and affirmations that help in motivating you. I have made a DIY vision board out of newspapers that one can keep in front of their study table or wherever they want.
Take a single page of a newspaper. Start rolling the paper from one end of the newspaper to another in a diagonal way. For better rolling use a thin stick. In my case, I used a thin paintbrush. You can also use a pen refill. Put the stick at one end of the paper and start rolling the paper around the stick. The newspaper sticks should look something like this.

Now paint them with your choice of colour. I went with the basics and painted them black. Let the paint dry up and then arrange the newspaper sticks in the form of grids. Make sure the sticks are evenly distributed. In my case they are 15 cm apart. After arranging them, use glue gun or feviquick or any glue which has strong bonding, to attach all the sticks of the grid together and then your newspaper vision board is ready. You can put on images, drawings, notes, cards and you can also decorate it with fairy lights.
3. Multicoloured vase

This DIY is the easiest out of all the three. For this DIY all you will need is an empty glass container (small or big), rangoli or wax crayons. I have used an empty nescafe container and rangoli. Clean the container and remove any stickers present on the container. If you are using wax crayons, melt them. For that, boil water in a bowl and then put another bowl containing the wax crayons (single colour) in the boiling water. This will help melting the wax crayons. For an easier method use rangoli.
Take the glass container, and start adding different colours of rangoli or melted wax crayons. For the formation of layers, add the colours at the side of the container and not at the middle. Keep on adding colours until the container is filled and voila the vase is ready.
You can also add a tea light on top of it.
